Redeveloped Miyashita Park Opening Spring 2020

  • News

Miyashita Park in Shibuya, which has been closed since late 2017, will re-open this spring alongside the new Shinmiyashita rooftop park facility, just in time for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Slated to open in April 2020, the newly designed park (which faced some controversy from its previous redevelopment by Nike) will welcome visitors with multi-purpose courts and commercial facilities.

The new park facilities will create a walkable green path connecting Shibuya station and Harajuku station. A modern hotel with commercial facilities is also slated to open at Harajuku station. The completed area will be three stories above ground with an underground parking facility with 243 spaces.

Miyashita Park and Shinmiyashita Rooftop Park will include a 10,800 square meter “Green & Sports Zone” to facilitate outdoor sporting events, rock climbing, a skateboard park, multi-purpose courts, cafes and an event space.
