Japan coronavirus travel restrictions

As the Coronavirus situation develops in Japan, travel restrictions have been put into place by the Japanese government. Please see the below list to view if you are from one of the countries or regions affected by Japan’s latest travel restrictions before planning a trip to Japan. This information will be updated periodically.

Prohibited/Restricted Entry 

Travelers who have visited the affected areas in the following countries within the last 14 days will be prohibited from entering Japan, except in special circumstances.

  • Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
  • Australia, New Zealand
  • Canada, United States
  • Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Dominica, Ecuador, Panama
  • Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican
  • Bahrain, Iran, Israel, Turkey
  • Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Mauritius, Morocco

14-Day Quarantine Required/Avoid Public Transportation 

All travelers who have recently visited any of the affected countries below will be required to self-quarantine in their homes or hotels and to avoid public transportation once arriving in Japan.

Visa Suspensions 

Single/Multiple use entry visas that have already been issued will be cancelled for the following countries. Visa exemption for these countries will also be temporarily suspended.
