The newly redeveloped Miyashita Park, which is scheduled to open shortly before this summer's Olympics in Tokyo, has revealed that there will be an outdoor Beach Volleyball Court at the new park facility. The new facility located near Shibuya Station will have beach volleyball as well as a soccer field. The first of its kind to be opened in downtown Tokyo, the Beach Volleyball Court, is expected to liven up festivities for visitors during the Olympics.

The two new courts will be on the roof of the new 3 level commercial facility connected to the new park. The size of the court will be 27 x 15 meters, and in addition to volleyball and soccer, it will also include a play area for children.

Reservations to use the court will need to be made in advance. Full usage will be limited in the future, but eventually paid access is expected. New challenges facing the court will be preventing the scattering of sand into the downtown area as well as measures to be taken in case of rain.
