Tokyu Livable Co., Ltd. will begin incorporating IoT (Internet of Things) smart technology into its Rivere series of rental apartments in Tokyo. The new technology will include devices such as smart mirrors equipped with LINE's AI assistant, “Clova”

In June 2018, the Rivere series introduced IoT equipment that allows users to use their smartphones to operate electrical appliances within the apartment, such as lighting fixtures, air conditioners, and water temperature controls. The apartments also come with smart door locks that utilize facial recognition.

The new smart mirrors are equipped with an Android OS made by Niei Intec Co., Ltd., and can be used as a touch panel display. They are able to play movies and music, as well as display weather forecasts, traffic information, and the latest news stories. Voice operation by LINE's AI assistant “Clova” will also come standard. These new devices will be used to enrich the lives of their users by enabling them to do most of their daily activities from right in front of their mirror.

The new smart mirrors will be installed in the larger units of the Rivere Nihombashi Mitsukoshimae apartment complex, which was completed in October 2007. There are also plans to install them at apartments in two new locations in the Asakusa Komagata and Shiba Park areas of Tokyo, which are currently in the construction planning phase.
